Hello Ramsay parents,   My name is Ms. MacLeod and I get to work with your children on Fridays, while Ms. Rowland meets with the school learning team. In Health, we have been exploring the importance of team work and collaboration within the classroom community. We have read many stories and had excellent discussions around what positive team work looks like and how we can make sure that all students’ voices are heard and respected during different learning challenges. This week, I placed students in groups of 4 and asked them to design a character of their choice. Once they were done, they were asked to create one animal that included at least one element from each of their individual characters. I was so impressed with the level of care and kindness students displayed during the task. They listened to each other and worked together to come up with one final character that represented all of their ideas. I have attached pictures below for you to see.

December 11 - 15th  CBE has put together a valuable resource for parents to access at home. This resource is the CBE Decodable Digital Library.  This resource has been developed to provide access to digital versions of decodable reading materials for CBE teachers and families. These digital offerings support both our understanding of decodable books and provide opportunities for beginning readers to access these reading materials at home and school. The materials will continue to be updated as the library evolves over time. This webpage can be found at the link below: https://sites.google.com/educbe.ca/cbe-decodable-digital-library?utm_source=Link-Online&utm_medium=Newsletter&utm_campaign=Link-Online-Nov-30-2023-Digital-Decodable-Library We had a busy week filled with loads of projects, explorations and discovery. Have a look at a snapshot of our week: (sorry I did not manage to take too many photos this week) Buddies: On Friday we spent time with our grade six buddies explori

December 4th -7th This week we headed out on another community walk to view Calgary’s landmarks out on Scotsman’s hill. This was an amazing experience to be able to identify many of Calgary’s landmarks up close which led to organic discussion around the heritage of Calgary. This was also a nice way to tie in our last community walk where we examined the historical significance of many of the buildings of Ramsay. Student’s enjoyed creating sketches of these heritage buildings as well as creating a representation of a Calgary landmark. In math this week we focused on number sense and place value up to 999. Students engaged in identifying numbers from base 10 models, representing these numbers in expanded form and identifying different ways to build numbers using different combinations of hundreds, tens and ones.  In phonics this week we worked on the long i vowel team - /ie/- tie, pie /igh/ - high, sight. Our high frequency words for this week are: away, animal, house, point, page, lette
