November 8-10th

This week we spent time educating, honoring and reflecting on National Indigenous Veterans Day and Remembrance Day. Students spent time learning about the importance of these days and why we honor and remember all veterans who sacrificed for our freedoms and continue to serve today to bring peace to our world. It is important for students to build upon their knowledge and understanding of all Canadian veterans past and present as well as the sacrifices they made/make. Students were very moved to listen to personal stories about different veterans including animals that had roles in the past and continue to serve for Canada. As we explored these topics, we also discussed what Peace means to us personally and shared a book titled, What Does Peace Feel Like?, Vladmir Radunsky. The highlight of all this learning came in our participation in the Grade 4, 5 and 6 Remembrance Day virtual event where they shared beautiful poetry, songs and tributes and we took part in a moment of silence and laying of the wreaths.

Reminder- On Friday, Nov 19th our class will be painting our fence art projects. Please send your child in old ,short sleeve clothing or with a paint smock/shirt. The paint we will be using will not come out of clothing.
